The challenges our rugby communities face
Rugby communities are largely built around people living or working together in the same area, attending the same schools, shopping in the same stores and doing the same things.
However the world is evolving, people have more choices than ever, are more transient with a new generation increasingly connecting digitally. These developments are eroding our rugby communities, with widely reported reduction in men’s grass root rugby teams.
This is not unique to rugby union but a societal issue which grass roots rugby needs to adapt to stay the course.
The opportunity for rugby communities
Rugby clubs do have a unique selling point (USP) of being established cornerstones of our communities, where men can come together.
In a culture of changing work patterns (post COVID), with increased numbers working from home, there is a real opportunity to grow or in some instances re-establish local, personal and compassionate face to face connections.
Therugbymen.com believes now is the time to reach out to communities and demonstrate what rugby has to offer against the long list of choices individuals have available today. So please follow and share our Instagram account below, where we attempt to capture rugby values and culture in a fun and accessible way whilst sharing our message.
